Norbert Zongo African Investigative Journalism Prize 2023: 118 applications from 29 countries

« On March 30, 2023, the Norbert Zongo National Press Center (CNP-NZ) and the Norbert Zongo Cell for Investigative Journalism in West Africa (CENOZO) launched the call for applications for the Norbert Zongo African Investigative Journalism Prize (PAJI-NZ), 2023 edition. On August 15, 2023, when said call for applications closed, the PAJI-NZ Secretariat registered 118 applications, i.e. 63 in the online category, 25 in the print category, 17 in the radio category and 13 in the TV category.
 
Applications came from 29 countries: South Africa, Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Comoros, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Central African Republic, DRC, Senegal, Chad, Togo, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
 
The application files will be examined by an international Jury composed of 7 members according to the criteria of the quality and relevance of the stories; its potential impact; the journalistic approach; the content of the investigation (facts, completeness, balance, reliability of sources, language, relevance and public interest); and presentation of the work.
 
The PAJI-NZ 2023 award ceremony in each category as well as the SEBGO D'OR (the best production, all categories combined), is scheduled for October 20, 2023 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on the sidelines of the 10th edition of the International Festival Freedom of Expression and of the Press (FILEP). »
